I have a DVD/CDRW combo, set for the UK, and Power DVD. Naturally it will not play DVDs from other regions. I have tried the trial version of RemoteSelector and USA DVDs play OK for a limited period.

My problem is this. I have tried to buy the full version from www.remoteselector.com but there appears to be a problem with this site.

Can anyone offer an alternative full version software that will perform satisfactorily?

I have no idea into which category i should post this thread. I hope this will do.

Hi SallyDog

My drive is regionally set and I have changed it twice. I thought that Genie changes the regional setting. This would be no good as i have only two changes left.

you might want to patch your firmware so this problem will be solved forever (or at least for a rather long period of time. for this putpose check out THE firmware page (http://www.firmware-flash.com)

oh and DVD genie just changes the region setting of your software DVD player, so no need to worry about changes there, it won't touch your DVD drive.

Hi Killingspree

Thanks for the advice. I tried to access the Firmware page (15th Feb, 12.23hrs) but it was not accessible. Will try later.

afaik dvd regionfree is not free though... it's about 40$. there's a trialversion available though that stops playback after about 15 minutes. - very annoying. still i have a full beta version that is working fine though i've never used it since i have patched my firmware. regards
