Whoa! does this actually work, did anyone try this utility yet?
My only question is that it seems to have a quality tab? how can it tell dvd2one to use better compression, I thought dvd2one only used the same setting for all movies!?
Can anyone enlight me on this?

taht depends what compressor/encoder is used. when CCE support is done, you can select output quality using the trackbar

AH, ok, so the compression selection does not apply to dvd2one then?
thx

there is only DVD2One 1.0 support at this time and it don't support variable output size (wait for 1.1 version)

What is is supposed to do ? Make a 1:1 copy ?
When I run it it finds the DVD, but then it checks the audio and the software 'freezes'.
Also, when the software is run, it attempts to access the internet. Is this for real ? or a Fake ? Spyware maybe ?
Their website isn't much help, it doesn't even explain what the software is supposed to do ...

Somewhere on their website they mention, that this connection is done to check for the end of the trial period.
DVDBot does not even allow the selection of the DVD source. So it does not even find my DVD.:(
I guess I'll delete right now.

can those who have problems try to use DVDDecrypter ?
it would be interested to know if they have to select another I/O mode than SPTI to work (ASPI or ASAPI) to have DVDDecrypter working ?
thanks

Do we really need this program ???
Is better to use just DVD2one.

DVD2Bot is all-in-one, "one click" copy concept
it gives more control, and don't forget that encoders like CCE & TMPG are planned ;)

DVDbot has trouble finding my disk.
DVDDecrypter works fine for me using SPTI. I am using a Pioneer A04.

I'm with ZWIEBER on this one, what exactly does it do??
I have already d/l it to test but it just crashes for me (on my otherwise ROCK solid XP platform) I am able to use DVDdecryptor (and do so regularly) on it's default settings without problems.
Is BOT a full backup solution (menus ect)

I gave this proggy a try and i can say it looks very promising.
Im using Win XP and had no problems with it so far. I prefer to use CCE so I would like to see how this program run in tandem with it.
i have a suggestion may it's already in the works - i noticed that you cant select which VTS you want, seems like the program selects it for you - it would be nice to be able to select them manually.

A program that does absolutely nothing...there's a concept.

I'm with Antonio S. and Gnutellafan -- the last thing I want is a helper app that uses my connection to decide whether I deserve to keep its service... even Micro$oft doesn't go that far.

Well, I asked JVC7845 (on this forum) exactly what his App does and his reply was.......
"you need a working internet connection to use it properly as mentionned on the web site"
Helpfull don't you think?:D
So I tried it for myself........ It appears to simply automate the decrypting then DVD2one then burning process.
Is that it??
Big deal, I don't think I'll be using this program again........

i dont believe the "phone home" function will be on the shareware release - if i understand it right.
the sw does add some value but poor execution will certainly hurt its credibility...

What value does it add:confused:
DVD bot does NOTHING we can't already do using EXCELLENT freeware tools.
DVD2one genuinely moved the game foreward by offering unparalelled speed, newby ease of use and good quality. MakeitEasy moved the game foreward again by adding to what was achievalbe with DVD2one.
DVDbot on the other hand offers us nothing that is not already available (unless I am missing something here)

I'm also wondering what it exactly does. Problem is people from the team are not really precise about it and dont' really help creating confidence in their software. JVC7845, can you please list all the features (current and planned) so people can make up their mind ?
The "Internet connection needed" part is totally unacceptable. No need to check version validity through the Internet. At least not for this kind of software.
I'll stick to freeware tools until it is clearer.

okay okay !!!
DVDBot is an "automate" program (a bot)
1. it detects DVD5 then it tell DVDDecrypter to read DVD in ISO mode
2. it detects if with one Audio stream, the main movie fit in a DVD5.
3. it allows to discard credits (with preview), to discard audios, to transcode AC3 -> Stereo, and display % needed compression. Then it runs dvd2one if needed
3. it make iso files (using imgtools), then can burn (using dvddecrypter iso write mode) or preview the movie (using daemon tools)
4. it list previous images availables
basically, it allow very simple operation. you don't have to stay at your computer (ripping, compressing, burning are done without further human action)
DVDBot is free at this time. since instant copy is now out, we doubt to find a "market", so this soft will be perhaps free forever.

So why not make a local program to do this w/o internet connection. I surely don't want to leave my computer & have it "phone home." Who knows where home is?

18th February 2003, 04:31
I for one do see the value of your program. Personally I think you made a mistake with your "internet connection" policy but I understand. Lose it when you go shareware
When will CCE support be enabled? DVD2One and InstantCopy both are below my acceptable level for quality on a large movie. I don't want speed. I want quality.
When will integrated menus be enabled? Basically I want InstantCopy ablility with CCE transcoding!! I know...greedy ain't I?

we don't plan to add extras, but menu why not?
cce support is planned but we have to fiw first bugs users find.

This has great potential, especially with cce planned for the future. Also, why not just add extras also, couldn't you just repeat the code used for the main movie to reencode the extras? Good luck!
