can anyone else use this media with this burner.. i have it in an external firewire case and even took out and updated the firmware last week but it still won't recognize these dvd-rw discs... i use ritek dvdr that burn fine from www.yesbuy.net. i really need to find some type of dvd-rw that will work with my drive so i don't make coasters of dvdr while testing encodes and such that i do. Luckily i haven't messed any dvdr up yet, but any advice on this topic would be appreciated... TIA!!!!!!

Ever thought about trying better media? I have only once seen my DVR-A03 not recognising a disc, and this was an unbranded Vivastar, so your discs must be really crappy!

is memorex not a respectable brand it just about sold everywhere. i bought these at bestbuy... the ritek dvr's i have play fine in my apex 5131 and my sony dvd player.. also read fine in pioneer a03... i have only opened up 1 of 5 pack of dvd-rw i got so might try to return these to bestbuy... i have only had 1 type of dvdrw ever read and i think it was verbatim but it was given to me by the person who gave me the drive... did i read somewhere that u can run cd cleaner discs in these to help them or am i mistaken b/c i always thought that those cleaner discs were bad for burners..

No! They sell whatever comes under than hands! This can be unusable crap, made by CMC or even InfoDisc (in the case of CDs), or, in the case of DVDs, also CMC.
They sell high quality Taiyo Yuden discs as well, but when buying Memorex, you always risking wasting money!
These Verbatims, they are the only DVD-RW media which I could read on an LG 16x DVD-ROM, by the way.

I don't know what DVD-RW they sell (Taiyo Yuden doesn't make RW discs, afaik), but maybe it's Princo or the such.

My Sony stopped working with this same media after a month. It won't even regocnize them anymore. I really thought it was the drive since I have 5 and none work now. I then bought a TDK DVD-RW disc and it seems to be working OK although I have not tested it fully. Your problems seem to confirm that these are crap media after all.
