Hy!!
Does anyone here know if the Ritek that Meritline is selling right now as Ritek "print blank media" or the "Ritke High quality Silver" are TRUE RITEK G03, I am planning to order some of them , and I just want to be sure since my pioneer a03 fell in love with this ritekg03 ! :-)) I also had very good result with Verbatim but those Ritekg03 are cheaper and burnt at 1x gives very good result, and DVD compatibility !!

So question is , is someone has already and recently ordered these DVD-r from meritline and can tell me if avdinfo returns the RitekG03 code.

thanks in advance.

Greetings

PS: I let the link here so that we all know about which dvd-r we are talking about! :-)

Last time I ordered 300 riteks from meritline I received 300 optodiscs. To say the least I was not impressed. That was over two months ago, and they have still failed to fix their mistake (basically they do not want to know me, even through i have been very polite and patient with them).

They even tried to pass the optodiscs of as riteks by placing a little RTK-DVDR-G sticker on the spindles.

Thanks for your comments and advice, I check the shop4 website sounds so good the problem is that the do not deliver to Spain, just US. and Canada,
Gooki : I am absolutely surprised with that behavior from meritline, I have never a problem by the moment with them , I considered first the "White printable" I wonder they should propably be true Ritek, since I was unable to find white printable optodisc, following your advice, I guess it is more "easy" to them to be I presume "confused" with Silver dvd-r from diferent brands that white printable, don't you think so ?? Been an international order they normally send us a mail to confirm all the terms, I will then just ask about that. The only think that I hate from Pioneer a03 is this mania with some dvd-r, I burn just fine but only with a few disc, and unfortunately the ones that are more expensive :(

Ok, thanks both for comments, tell me what do you think about white printable, seems that optodisk printable are only sold on cases or small bulk pack 25 or 50 .

I buy the Ritek (G3's) printable from Rima.com. I don't know their international shipping policy, but I've good luck with their price and delivery to the US. The discs are true Riteks and work great.

What happened in my case is they had sold out of Ritek DVD-R so shipped optodiscs without telling me, or charging me less, and then tried to hide the fact they are optodiscs by placing fake ritek stickers on the spindle boxes.

So they definetly knew what they were doing. However that wasn't the first time they stuffed up my order, another one I placed, they totally forgot to include the authoring discs, I had ordered, and paid for. Thankfully the corrected this problem reasonably promptly.

Hi everyone. I have a question that a lot of you might say "Who is this guy?" I was wondering, if it is possible to buy the same type of DVD-R that the original movies are made with. The reason why I am asking is because they are compatible with any standalone player, compared to what is sold to us which you might have compatibility problems. I am also asking this question because a friend of mine went for vacation in China and came back with DVD copies which were made with the same type of DVD's as the originals.I know they are copies because they had besides the DVD quality movies, the ones you can download from the net.Is there anyone who might know?

Well, you see - commercial DVD's aren't made from DVD-R's. They are pressed (think of record albums). They aren't 'burned'. So you really can't buy the same media that the DVD manufacturers use.

The reason your friend may have found cheap DVD's from China is they have lower manufacturing costs.

Thanks for the answer, but i still dont understand the method "pressed". And my friend bought them at a cheap price, yeah but they had movies on the disks that were very poor quality

Commercial DVD's are produced, using a master disc that is made out of glass.

This master disc is then stamped against a alloy plate to create a copy. Copies can be made this way in approx 10 seconds each (or less). Hence if you are doing a lot of copies of the one movie (like chinese pirates and commercial studios do) it becomes a very cheap a efficient way of doing things.

DVDR's use laser, to record to a layer of dye, not metal, hence not as reflective, hence incompatibility issues arrive.

If you are wondering why everyone hase DVD burners and not DVD presses in their home.

1) They're prety big units.

2) A dust free environment is required.

3) Class master discs are expensive to make (a few hundred dollars).

padre, do the ritek you purchased look funky in the center circle? i bought the 100 stack from rima.com too and the center circle looks like a rorschach block. like glue and air bubbles. does yours look something like that? it's on every one of them but they seem to burn fine.

Yes, the center hub for most other brand of DVD-R is clear, but the Riteks are kind foggy, semi-clear. But that doesn't have any impact on recording. They work great.
