Hi!

I´ve encoded in divX before, now I´m thinking of doing it in SVCD
so I can play it in my DVD.
Is it possible to have 5.1 sound in a SVCD?
If it is, how do i do it?

Thanks
Freddan

Yes, SVCD allows the use of 5.1 audio, there are few problems:

1: bitrate: The MAX TOTAL BITRATE of SVCD is about 2700 kbs. The multichannel MP2 has a bitrate of over 360 kbs so you will degrade the video quality.

2: compatibility: the Multichannel MPEG audio must be supported by your DVD player, else, you will just listen to the front channels.

Maybe you'd better to create a 2channel Dolby Sourround Pro Logic 2 audio using BeSweet (and keeping the bitrate you want, 160 or 224 kbs are more than good :) )

All the words are true, MPEG 5.1 multi-channel is difficult matter.
But please come back to dvd2svcd and besweet.
1. Are you sure that you get exactly Dolby ProLogic 2 sound (2 independent stereo channels and 4 computed channels (LFE, surround center, surround rear LEFT and surround rear RIGHT)?
2. What can I do with Dolby Prologic audio (I mean can I edit sound using popular soundeditors like Soud Forge and DX plugins with preservation of surround sound?
3. Where I can obtain more information about it and can you propose me any program for Dolby ProLogic sound audio editing?

Thank you in advance,

Alexey
