Avi to svcd

Hi!

I am a newbie on this, but i want to learn. I have downloaded the great program that has the fuction to convert avi to svcd. I have followed the guide, that is published on this site on the subject. evereything goose smooth. BUT, when i´ve try to view the converted film i just have a green picture. The sound is great, but there is no picture. I have tride to do everything over agin and i got the same result. Now i need som help. Is there something i am missing...

i am using TMPGEnc-2.510.49.157-Free and all the other program that comes with DVD2SVCD.

i have a GEforce 2 32 ram, p4 1400 mhz, 400 of ram. Windows XP,LG cdr burner, A samsung DVD in my computer.

i have tried to view the the film on PowerDVD nad on my DVD player

Because i am new on this, there are lots of things i don´t yet understand. But i will do my best to feed you gys with information

Rule 9 requires a title that describes the problem, which is not yours.

Try playing the avs file in media player and see if that shows an error or is green as well.

I have tried that and i got an error message that says " Could not play file. The format is not supportet...(translation from swedish to English)

I have installed the DivX 5.0 Pro and Xvid Encoder. I normally views avi films in Mediaplayer. so i try to have the lates version ov DIX ect. When i´ve try to play the film on my Pioneer DVD player i got the same thing. I green Sereen and god sound

Can you view the avi file in WMP? You need to make sure that you can actually view the file before avi2svcd can convert it. If you dont have the right codec installed thats not going to happen. You might want to try the new 5.03 divx codec from their site.

If you cannot play the avs file then there was something wrong with the installation of DVD2SVCD. I suggest you uninstall it and then re-install it.

Yes i can view the avi film in WMP. AN d i have tried two diffrent avi films and i got the same result.

Ok I will install de new DivX 5.03. I that dosent work i will reinstall dvdssvcd..

recently i had similar problems until i updated my divx codec to 5.03. I assumed 5.02 was good enough and didn't see the point in upgrading, but apparently files encoded with 5.03 sometimes can only be played with 5.03 (kind of stupid IMHO).

Ya for some reason the divx files that are encoded wiht 5.03 can only be played if you have 5.03 installed. I dont know why this is. I think that its kinda dumb that you have a codec like divx thats not backword compatable. Oh well :(

No, VDub (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Editing/VirtualDub-1_4_13.zip) is a video editor and encoder (and one of the most basic of tools around here). It'll prove if you have AviSynth installed and if your .avs is any good. Open the .avs and scroll around to see if the video looks OK or if it crashes.
