Hello,
For my Tenchi Muyo OVA DVD collection, each (single-sided) DVD disc holds more than 7 GB of data. How is that possible? The only DVD +/- R/RW discs I have seen so far only hold 4.7 GB.
Thanks for any info on this question.

Whoa!!:eek:You're definitely a newbie alright! You've got a lot of reading and studying to do!;) Read 1.18 in this link The Offical DVD FAQ (http://www.thedigitalbits.com/officialfaq.html). I highly recommend you read the whole FAQ too just to answer other questions you may have. You also can do a search on the web or even this forum on "DVD-5" and "DVD-9". You'll get alot of websites that will provide you with detailed answers to your simple question.:D
Though you've registered in DEC 2002, Welcome to the forum!:D Remember to strap your seatbelt now, it's going to be a bumpy ride. Everybody had to go through this stage too.:D

Thanks. I wasn't even aware of the terms DVD-5, DVD-9, etc. (I did a forum search for "DVD size capacity", but didn't find anything relevant).
For fellow newbies: If you bought a DVD burner to back up your expensive DVD collection, you may be out of luck. Try encoding into DivX movies instead.

You are not out of luck. Just read the guides on Doom9 that teach you how to do it.
