I use CCE 2.64 to encode DVD~>DVD+r. I have a question about the Quantization Factor setting whenever you do a one-pass VBR. I realize that the lower it is, the greater overall bitrate you will have...but I'm wondering if there is a 'magic-formula' for determining your encoded file size based on: time, Min Bitrate, and Max Bitrate? Maybe nothing so scientific...but ballpark range.
For example...I just backed-up Citizen Kane(movie only)...I used DVD2AVI/VFAPI to frameserve to CCE 2.64. In the first encode I used a Q:60 Min:0 Max:9800 with ImageQualityPriority:5 the result was 2:19 @2.7GB. In the second encode(just 'cause I'm experimenting) I used a Q:40 and the rest the same. That result was 2:19 @3.8GB.
So basically, the same movie time, the same Min and the same Max. The only thing I changed was the Q and this increased file size over 1GB. Is there any way to predict the end result?
