I thought this wouldnt work.... I was right... shame.....

Attached PS2 output (s-video) into analogue input of my Sony PC8 MiniDV camera. Played DVD. Hit rec. on DV camera - "record inhibit" or similar message on Sony screen.

Dont suppose there's a sneaky way around this? Not trying to set myself in illegal dupes, just want to have some fun with a James Bond intro!

Sony camcorders normally have a passthrough feature (that defeats macrovision). This means that you can capture your DVD through your camcorder to the firewire port of your computer. DV out must be enabled on the camcorder's menu. You do not need to record anything on a DV tape when using the passthrough feature as the video is converted to DV and sent directly to the computer.

You can then capture using almost any program. For example, you can capture using DVIO. After having done this, you can export the DV back to your camcorder with DVIO.

You can record analogue video and DV-in is also enabled, but no pass-through.
To get the DVD video on DV tape, I'd rip it from DVD with DVD Decrypter or Smartripper, then convert it to DV via Software (I think opening the vob with avisynth and then converting to DV type 2 with VirtualDub should be possible, at least the Panasonic VFW DV codec should work)
