Dialog box being blacked out

I have seen this question asked a few times already - but no answer was given --- the dialog boxes on all of my updates (V1.2-V1.3-V1.4-V1.5) have been blacked out. From what I have read - some people choose a directory and it appears in these boxes but when I choose a directory all I see is BLACK. I just tried to copy a picture of what I see in the program - I opened it in windows 98 at work and the boxes appeared normal with the directory displayed -- so this tells me that this situation (blacked out boxes) is a problem on Windows XP. Is this the case????

I ran into this and figured out a solution. I was using XP Pro with the Windows screen format (Display icon in the control panel) set to XP (not traditional) "silver" display type. When I changed it to XP regular or normal, I can't remember which it was, the problem immediately disappeared. All changing the setting did, besides fixing your problem, was to change the border and task bar color in Windows screens from silver to blue. Try it and I think it will work for you too.
