copying original DVD mpeg source while re-encoding with CCE

Hi everyone.

I havent been encoding DVDs for very long so dont all flame me if this question has been asked a million times before, I've searched and I cant find anything.

Ok... At the moment I'm trying to re-encode the PAL DVD Star Trek : First Contact. As it stands when everything, but english subtitles and 5.1 audio has been stripped the video is about 5.2gb so obviously I have to re-encode to get it to fit on a DVD-5 disk.

So my problem - some of the mpeg source on the original dvd isnt very good as it stands, a good example being the introduction (the credits fading in). And when I do a total re-encode using the robshot CCE method this has become to be a bit of a problem area for me.

Because the source is horrible to begin with and I am re-encoding it to a smaller size the source gets even worse. I was wondering if while encoding there is a way to tell CCE to just do a *direct copy* of parts of a DVD and not bother re-encoding, basically just copy it over?

I know this probably isnt possible, but someone may have an idea?

Wow.
CCE can't do that as far as I know. You can define start and end frames for encoding, but not much more.

Check in IFOEdit if poor quality parts are in different titlesets or PGCs than the movie itself. If so, use DoItFast4u to demux all and only reencode the movie, and replace it in the original DVD structure (see guides about it).

Otherwise, the only thing I see if you really want to keep poor quality intro, is to strip it in IFOEdit so to extract the movie only, without the intro, then demux everything with doitfast4u, then strip again the original so to get the intro only, demux all this in another dir.

THen reencode your "movie without intro" with CCE and leave the intro as is.
Then reauthor all that stuff together (intro + reencoded movie) in Maestro for example.
