Getting a 2 GB svcd to vcd

Hi! I've got this problem:

I've got a 1 hour long movie (Hand ball match) from a DV-cam. The problem is that it's a 2 GB large mpeg2/svcd file. The quality is of course very good but unfortunately not very handy. I've checked out some guides in gere and tried several tools like tmpgenc, but no success so far. For every new tool I try I just get more files like d2v and mp2 and the panic gets closer. Is it no easy way to just downsample it so I can burn it on 1 Cd? I downloaded the template kvcd but I got stuck there to...

It's not that tough to do. However, if you are running Windows 98 or ME you may (or may not) have problems with a 2GB file. Demux the original MPEG-2 file using TMPGenc into a video (call it *.m2v) and audio (call it *.mpa) file. Have TMPGenc use the m2v file as input and produce MPEG-1 (VCD) output. Then remux the new MPEG-1 video file and your original audio file and you're ready to burn. You didn't say much about your source, such as its length or video bit rate, so if you have something like 2 hours of video, it's not going to fit on one CD-R unless you convert it to DivX, which is another story.

If you read the joalin's post once again carefully:D , there is "I've got a 1 hour long movie (Hand ball match)" - I think the lenght is 60 mins;)

Ok, thanks for your help. Actually the no success so far meant I didn't really get any result at all, just a file without sound or tmpgenc warned me for doing wrong. Now I've done a simple de-mux and have a m2v and a mpa-file, but where am I supposed to make the m2v to vcd/mpeg? I couldn't find this in tmpg...

Well, I see you have made some progress anyway. Good, let start with the terms.
mpa=MPEG Audio=mp2=MPEG Layer-2 Audio File (Elementary Stream ES)
mpv=m2v=MPEG-2 Video file (Elementary Stream ES)
d2v=DVD2AVI Project File.
I assume the error mesage from TMPG is "Warning! You are doing wrong!":D
AFAIK TMPG will not accept m2v file as input, but it will accept d2v file. So, make from your mpg file DVD2AVI project file (I assume you have done, as in your first post you mention d2v file). Now you have your audio as MPEG audio, the same file you can use for VCD. You need to make only the video file.
1.Open TMPG. Select "video only"
2.Browse to the d2v file as video input
3."Load" VCD template
5.Click "Start"
After the TMPG complete encoding, use the "MPEG Tools" to "Simple multiplex" the new video file with old audio file.
Some Remarks:
1. Don't Panic!:D
2. If you don't like the appearance of the video, try to increase the bitrate to 1600 Kbps.
