HellO!
I'm trying to distribuite a job over a network: I installed several copies of the same ver of VDMod on my PC and in Job Control set them "client".
Then on a PC I create two jobs (2pass encoding) and in Job Control I set Master: in the list then I can see the other PCs as "slave" but on slave PC I see master one status "not connected". If I start jobs they run only on Master. Where I'm wrong?
Thanks!

I don't know exactly what's wrong, but do you know it's highly unrecommended to use VDM's network option for 2-pass encodings? You'll find information about this in some help file that comes with VDM.

Unrecommended? It simply won't work ;)

Oh, I thought it just would make the bitrate distribution really bad. Never actually tried it.

Hello!
Thanks for your reply... is this a feature you'll add in next vers? When I work (school) I've several PCs which - for many hours in a day - are not used so I could use them for "network compression" as I actually use them for "network rendering".
bye

I'm going to revisit this, I know a pure 2-pass can't work, but what if you do a single 1st pass on 1 machine, and the 2nd pass on a compressionfarm? If the stats file can seek, and vdubmod is breaking on keyframe for the clients..it should work nicely?

Well, different codecs works differently. But I'd say most of them do a pretty important work distributing the bitrate/quantziser on the second pass too.
