Well, it's been a long time in the making but it's done now. Please bear in mind that it was written as "notes" and not necessarily a "1, do this, 2, do this" sort of thing. Well, almost but not really. You'll have to see for yourself. Just remember it was intended as an advanced guide. You should be able to get your own FULL disc backup of Insomnia by following the information I have there.
NOTE for newbies and anyone not totally comfortable with how to go about recreating the IFO layout in the Scenario Editor in Scenarist!! I've included a screen "camera" capture to show you precisely how this is done! It's a 1MB download but I feel it is worth it if you do not know how to do this yet! Enjoy!! :)

Some have asked if I could encode the AVI to Divx or xvid codecs. I was going to but then looking at the filesizes made me change my mind. Even set to ridiculously low bitrates resulting in serious artifacting, the filesize was the same and even larger in some cases! The TechSmith Screen Capture Codec which I've made available for download is a lot better! I would imagine if you really need the assistance of the AVI then installing a small 157KB codec won't be a big deal. ;)

Just finished reading the guide and watching the avi.
There is nothing I can tell. Your work should set an example of how the guides should be made off.
Excellent work!
My warmest congratulations!

To tell you the truth I was trying to do this with maestro cause I thought that is more user friendly than anything else since I want to keep menus etc.
After a week of desperate efforts to make it work I finally started to working on your guide with scenarist. You might think that is the most difficult thing to do to make it work. I had absolutely no confidence bfr I start reading the guide that I will make it work.
After a day of step by step studying I had my first backup of a DVD which was exactly the same as the original. And when I say exactly I mean 100%. So I guess its my opportunity to thank Trilight cause now I find scenarist very easy and after a little search in this huge forum u can dig up treasures.
I wont be bothered with anything less than a complete backup and I ma sure I will succed with every DVD I have in my collection.
This might not be the actuall answer to your problems I just wanted to tell you that if u give the appropriate time to the backup process you will end up with good results which will be as close to the original as u can't imagine.
The one button programmes will always be an alternative. Not for me anymore but for many other users that don't wanna lose time studying for their hobbies.

Awesome!! I'm so glad your project worked out for you and the guide was useful! I sometimes wonder if anyone even bothers reading anything anymore. I know it seems complicated but that's just because I've included as much information as I could possibly think of. I'm glad you see the beauty of making full backups, Yoda! It's comments like this that really make the whole effort worthwhile! Thanks!
