How do I copy a dvd w/ Recordnow Max? I'm used to Nero, but people have been praising this software and have said that it makes the dvd compatible in more players, so I figured I'd try it. This is what I'm doing and it's not working. It says the job is complete, but when I insert it in my dvd player it does not work and in my dvd-rom it says "error code 89030000 unknown file format" and then a disk w/ an unsupported format is in drive D:.

Here are my steps:

-First decrypt w/ dvddycrpter and creat a VIDEO_TS folder

Recordnow Max settings

1) -File new job and select data disc

2) -Select your recorder, look to the right and there will be a red arrow on the recorder that is selected. Double click on the red arrow to deselect/select your recorder.

3) -Under options in the dvd section, choose “track at once closed” & (UDF Joliet 106 in length which is usually the default)

4) -Add files, add you VIDEO_TS FOLDER & create an AUDIO_TS folder and add both of these.
Got this from this forum:
"Make sure the data setting is dvd compliant in the options mentioned above alternatively when you have added your VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS files right click on them and select modify folder on disk so that they are in the root and not a directory structure mirrored off your HDD" e.g.

D:\temp\Video1\ VIDEO_TS ; should be just - \VIDEO_TS

So, I right click on my file and click on "modify folder on disc" and then click on the root for both the AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS FOLDER

5) -Then I change the dvd “volume label” to name the dvd movie.

6)-Finally, click the red record button

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated. As always, thanks in advance.

1) dont add an AUDIO_TS folder if there wasn't one. IE, don't create a blank AUDIO_TS folder.

2) Don't click the "root" for these folders. If you drag just the folder "VIDEO_TS" to the data disc layout, thats all you need. The "folder or file as on disc" will read "\VIDEO_TS\*.*". What you are probably doing is setting it to \*.* - that won't work.

If you use windows explorer to check the created disc, you should see a single folder on this disc that is VIDEO_TS, with files in it.

Thank you, I will try it right after this. I read this post about the AUDIO_TS folder. It wouldn't hurt if I just put it in, no? I will tell how it goes. Thanks again

Update: it worked w/o the AUDIO_TS FOLDER too. Thanks a lot.

Use the Wizard. Select Data Disc and then select the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS directories off the hard drive. There is no need to select files only the directories. I always add the AUDIO_TS directory and have never had an issue.

Under Tools->Options->Data Disc make sure that recognize the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS per the DVD specification is checked. It is by default.

There is a known bug that working with the Wizard bypasses. There is no need to do any of that modify disc structure stuff.

I'm highly assuming you are using PowerDVD. Check here for your error code. http://www.blisware.com/support_powerdvd_errorcodes.htm

You should leave the automatically detect VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders in teh RecordnowMax options... One time i burned it without leaving that checked it burned successfully but the dvd didnt work in my panasonic dvd player..i burned it again with it checked and everything was fine..

I wonder if anyone can shed some light on the problem I'm having at the moment?
Previously, I've always used Nero V5.5.9 to burn my DVDs and they all worked fine on my stand alone DVD player (HITEKER AD-600A). However, some of the disks that worked on my machine, when I lend it to my brother, his DVD player can't not read them. So I thought maybe the media are a bit different eventhough I used the same brand.
A couple of days ago, I was reading the DVD2One web site and on their web site they mention that Nero has some incompatibility when it comes to burning DVD, and they recommended to use RecordNow Max or Prassi PrimoDVD. So I thought, that maybe the reason why my brother can't read some of mine disk (Incompatibility because of Nero). So last night I downloaded a trial version of Recordnow Max v4.5 and burned 2 DVD movies with it. But when I put it in my DVD player (The Hiteker), it tried to read the disk for a while and then displayed "NO DISC". I thought maybe I did something wrong in burning the DVD, but when I took the discs to my brother's DVD, they both work fine.

So mine questions are:
- Is this a limitation of the trail version? (I tried to search on the web for the limitations of the trail version of Recordnow Max, but could not find anything except that it's going to expire in 30 days.)
- Does anybody aware of the problem using Recordnow Max burned DVD in a Hiteker AD-600A? (they also called the APEX AD600A) in the United States)
- Is it a bug with a new version of RecordNow Max v4.5?
- Does anyone aware of the incompatibility of Nero that DVD2One mentioned on their website? and what affects does these compatibility have, as I haven't experience any on my DVD player?

For now, I'll go back to Nero, until I find out a solution for my problem with Recordnow Max.

Thanks for your helps.

No it's that Nero sucks at making truly compatible DVD's.
Use one of the better programs.
If you read up on the forum you would see that the best DVD burning programs to use are (in no particular order):
DVD Decrypter
Prassi Primo DVD
RecordNow Max

If you must use Nero use the latest version and from what I have read don't use the DVD template.

Nitrus101,
Thanks very much for your kind offer, but I think that might be a breach of the forum rules. In the mean while, I manage to obtained a real version of RecordNow Max 4.5 and figured out what the problems were, and it's was the media.
The media I was using "Data King" and I had been having no problems what so ever with the single speed media. Last week I bought some 2x Data King blanks, and the Hiteker/APEX AD-600A have problems reading this media.
What I did to find out were to burned 2 copies of 2 movies, 1 was burned on DataKing 2x and the other was on Princo 2x. I used RecorderNow Max 4.5 (the trial version I downloaded), and the result is that both the movie on Princo Disc work fine in my machine, and both the Data King disk did not worked. However, when I took the data king disc to my brother, they both worked fine.
So somehow, there are some incompatibility between the Data King 2x media and the Hiteker machine. The reason why, I did not suspect the media in the first place was that I have burned about 50 movies on the 1x Data King media so far and had no problem with it.
