Do you get black & white films when playing NTSC backups burned to DVD+-R.?
Does your sound go out of sync after converting NTSC to PAL. Burning to DVD+-R?
This a basic DVD encoding guide for those who do.
I have struggled to find a simple solution to this for a while, but finally sorted it at weekend thanks to a cracking tool by DSPGuru.
Reqd Progs.
DVD2SVCD complete with supporting tools & CCE
AC3Machine from www.doom9.net under show all audio tools.
Spruceup. Or authoring tool supporting .MPV & .AC3
1: Using DVD2SVCD setup as for creating a normal DVD copy. (plenty of guides available)
but if you want it here is mine.
Set Lum. Gain (contrast) to “5” (DVD2AVI Tab)
Tick do not convert audio (use source audio) (AUDIO Tab)
Set resize to “DVD(720x480/576) (FRAMESERVER Tab)
Set all “cd size to 4300” (BITRATE Tab)
Set all “USE CD to 1” (BITRATE Tab)
Set “max =6500”, “Min= 2000”, “Max Average= 6000” ” (BITRATE Tab)
Uncheck “warn if bitrate is too high” ” (BITRATE Tab)
Set your “favourite encoding mode” (ENCODER Tab)
Click on “bbmpeg output settings” (BBMPEG Tab) A box will open with options
Double click on the “MPEG-2” program stream type. This will set everything automatically.
Close the BBMPEG Setting box.
Select don’t make images (CD IMAGE Tab)
Select “input file type=DVD” , “Output file type=MPEG-2”, “DVD2SVCD level=ADVANCED” & tick “don’t delete any files” (MISC Tab)
(Extra Settings only when converting NTSC to PAL)
2: check the “NTSC to PAL” box (CONVERSION Tab).
3: uncheck “do not convert Audio (use source Audio)” leave everything as default and make sure the “audio 1 downsample 48 -> 44.1” is unchecked. (AUDIO Tab)
4: set “NTSC field operation (force film) = automatic” (DVD2AVI Tab)
5: check “don’t delete any files” (MISC Tab)
6: rip & encode as normal. & stop DVD2SVCD after CCE has finished.
7: run AC3Machine & set path to BeSweet.
8: set path marked “Input.ac3” to your path with the .MP2 source sound created by DVD2SVCD IE: “C:\program files\dvd2svcd\movie\encoded_audio.mp2
9: set path “Output.ac3” to your destination folder & name Ie: c:\ program files\dvd2svcd \movie\mummy returns.ac3
10: uncheck “set sampling rate to” under SSRC options. Leave the rest as default.
11: click Give me AC3.
12: rename the “encoded_movie_pal.mpv created by D2S to the same name as the audio you created. Ie: c:\ program files\dvd2svcd \movie\mummy returns.mpv
13: run Spruce & load the .MPV file up to re-author.
(note the .MPV & .AC3 files need to have the same name or the audio will not be loaded)Ie: "mummy_returns.mpv" & "mummy_returns.ac3"
Movie will now be Pal with audio in sync. (Also Works in PS2 game console)
no doubt someone will now tell me that you can do this with just D2S :(
