Yesterday I've downloaded Producer 9.1 Milestone 4,and was surprised
by the new Producer's ability to encode ogg vorbis files (Audio only).
Apparently this is done externally by the Vorbis Encoding engine.
So my Question is whether Real is about to dump ATRAC audio Codec and replace it with vorbis.

Thanks.

Maybe Real want to cut licenses fees... but Vorbis' quality is not as good as Real's one, at 64kbps. Maybe you should ask Karl about this.

Yeah, the question kind of aimed to Karl
but Regarding this " but Vorbis' quality is not as good as Real's one" Comeone :) imo Vorbis Is The best Audio codec Ever Created.

It's a great codec, I admit it. But try to encore rain or wind at 64kbps. At 80kbps, those problems are gone. I still prefer a 192kbps MP3 for music...

As far as I remember, karl said that everything below 105k (excluding the "voice" codecs) is owned and developed by Real. So they would only be replacing the high-bitrate codes (105k and up) if this were to happen.

Well, Vorbis is not very good at high bitrate, i think it is ok at from 80 - 160 Kbps.... other range have other formats occupied as being the best....
