my boyfriend bought me a dvd burner today from staples and it is a cendyne dvd recorder.which i can copy my dvd movies for backup purposes only..ne way the guy in store reccomended this cendyne which is dvd-r4x cd-r 16x dvd-rw 2s cd-rw 8x. i am confused in which is a better format the dvd+r the dvd+rw i searched the forums and can't find nething the my home dvd player which is a daewoo 3000n does not play dvd-rw but it does play dvd+r and dvd+rw and dvd-r..i done some research.i can take the burner back i need too know which is better because i am confused with the - and + with dvd-r and rw also which is the best site and brand of dvd blanks should i buy.thanx and sorry for the long thread

That drive is the same as the Pioneer A05/105 drive. It only supports the -R/-RW format. +R/+RW is a competing format that other companies support. R is write once and RW is write, erase, write many times over.
RW are obviously more expensive, but for things you don't want to keep long term a better sololution since once you are done you erase them and then can reuse the disc again.
Sounds like you are a real newbie to this. Make sure you read the guides and FAQ's here in the forum and on the main Doom9 website before asking too many questions. More often then not you will find the answers you seek already written out in one of those.

There are already many posts about the best or best value media in this forum already. Remember you can only use the -R or -RW media in that drive.
