I've been searching the forums about this but there isn't much talking about it (I remember posting on a related thread a few months ago but it wasn't very revealing).
There are quite a few movies with "automatic" subtitles in the subtitles stream -displayed always even if you have turned them off- scattered on them, for example when there are foreign (or even alien) people talking in their native languages for a few seconds, or sometimes after scene changes (new location/date subtitles not embedded in the video). I guess most ppl will like to have those, because it is annoying to listen to many lines of dialogue that you don't understand, or even be very important to follow the movie.
I've been using DVD2SVCD for a while, but the subtitles tab only lets you rip *all* the subtitles in the movie or none at all, you can't choose to rip only the automatic/forced subtitles (or I haven't found a way to do it). How do other ppl deal with this?
I have to edit the .avs script and insert vobsub, then rip the subtitles with it and try one by one the different subtitle streams in the vobsub configure box until I find the right one (I don't know why but there are usually up to 6 duplicated instances of each language in that combo box).
Wouldn't it be interesting to have a box in that subtitle tab in DVD2SVCD to select between All and Automatic subtitles if it can be done? If not I suppose there has to be an easier way to do what I want without having to rip those subtitles by hand and adding them with vobsub?
