Maybe one of you veteran CCE users can explain this.
I don't normally use 2 pass VBR with it, but I wanted to try it today so I can compare dvd2one to CCE. Anyway what I don't get is, I've had the thing running for 2 hours or so. It says its running at 1.383 speed, and the total movie running time is 2 hours 23 minutes yet the time left says 2 hours 50 minutes and only 38 minutes elapsed.
It looks like its writing the m2v file now, it already wrote the vaf file. but i can't understand why it will take nearly 3 more hours when it says its running at 1.383 speed

The calculation for total time is this (Run Time) X (Number of passes +1 vaf creation) / (Speed).

So 143minutes x (2+1) / 1.383= 310 minutes total. Time for vaf creation is 1 pass so 143/1.383= 103 minutes. The remaining 206 minutes (3 hours, 26 minutes) is for the 2 encoding passes.

Ahhh now I get it. Thanks.

I thought the VAF creation was considered the first pass!! no wonder its so long. well maybe this won't be a fair comparison to dvd2one now.
