2 DVDs to one

i have a DVD of clerks: the animated series, which is comprised of 2 DVDs of the six cartoon episodes (three per disc). I want to get just the six episodes on the disk without any of the extras or angles. Is this at all possible using any DVD2One? If not, could any of you reccomend any other methods?

1 possible way:

rip both DVDs & rename all the VOBs in sequence (e.g. VTS_01_1, VTS_01_2, etc). create new IFOs using Ifoedit. Then DVD2One the set. I have not tried but this might work.

No, that doesn't work. I've tried the VOBEdit guide to combining flipper discs in conjunction DVD2One, but that didn't work either.

Yes you can combine flipper disk with dvd2one.
Just make sure when your decrypting it to your hard drive that you put each side in it's own folder and grab only the movie vobs nothing else.
Rename the sibe b vobs so they follow on from side a put them all in one folder and then use ifoedit to create new ifo's for the movie.
I did this with Goodfellas and it worked fine.

I have tried the same method you mention and the vobs themselves play OK on a PC but once you burn to dvd it will only play up until chapter 19 (the end of the first side of the flipper).

When you have a look at the ifo's in ifoediter the chapters id's start from 1 again after chapter 19 (the second side of the disc). I assume that a dvd player reads the ifo and cannot go beyond chapter 19.

Some kind of modification to the ifo needed??

I did this with buffy episode dvd's and put 6 eps on one dvd. What I did was rip with decryptor, stream proccessing. Only rip m2v and ac3 of each episode you want. Then I imported them into Maestro, made a generic menu and built dvd volume. Then dvd2one it and burn. I hope this will be a feature in the next release but this works for me for now.

Dexxa i have'nt burnt it to disk yet but i will check it out.
And thinking about it you are probably right as the sibe b vobs chapter information would start from 00.00 as well.
Having said that it should still play the full movie although you wont be able to skip to chapters past 19.
I will burn it today and try it on my stand alone player.

Looking forward to your results on playing using this method. I've ripped The Right Stuff - something like 186 minutes - into 2 seperate VIDEO_TS folders for each side.

I'd like to try to get them on one dvd-r with dvd2one.

I can visualize your method working...anyone else tried it?

Yep dexxa is right the chapter points stuff up , but the movie will play from start to finish " when it changes from side a to side b you wont be able to skip to the next chapter " but it will continue playing till the end of the movie .

So it looks like you will have to edit the chapter points in the ifo " havent looked into it though " as i'm happy to play the whole movie in one go.

With band of brothers i ripped each title to seperate folder- mpv & ac3 with smart ripper. Then loaded each video into maestro in the same time line and right click on audio and selected create synce audio. There were hardley any chapters in each episode so it was easy to put them where they belonged manually (all though 1st could be entered the normal way) Authored disc and run dvd2one after. the results were great. I haven't tried a flipper, though it would be the same method

I'm going to try to put Pearl Harbor on 1 dvd-r by renumbering the vob's - joing clips in vobedit, using ifoedit to renavigate and dvd2one to get it together....I found a great guide, but am confused about renumbering vob's from disc 1 & 2....

I ripped using dvd dycrypter, and got these vob's:

DISC 1: VTS_07_1.VOB to VTS_07_8.VOB

DISC 2: VTS_08_1.VOB TO VTS_08_4.VOB

Now the fun part, should disc 2 be numbered as:


VTS_07_9.VOB
VTS_07_10.VOB
VTS_07_11.VOB
VTS_07_12.VOB ??

It seems to me that you can't go above _9.vob, or your vob: "_10.vob" is recognized as starting over with 1.

:confused: So, can someone clear up renaming a total of 12 vobs so that they are sequential?

Wagonfree, Did you ever come up with 1 dvd with Pearl Harbor? I am trying to make a working copy from the 2 disc set. Most of the movie is on disc 1 and small amount on disc 2. I used DVD Decrypter and it gave me the above info you had, but I could not play it on Power DVD XP on my computer ( the file/movie #2)

Just wondering if it worked for you yet? Email me if ya get a chance.

Only part I forgot to add was joining the vobs with vobedit. I suppose it can be done with menus. Just have to adjust the final size of movie.

Haven't got it yet...my OS went Kabloey...had to reload it and all my applications...spent a week doing that and finally got Norton AV to load last nite...whew! :( I was ready to buy a new computer and say to heck with it....

I'm going to look over Bear's guide and try it this weekend....

Well, I got the movie split onto 2 disc using DVD2ONE. BUT! the 1st disc was a large part of the movie and in the transcoding to make it smaller it made it really noticable in pixels. This is the first time I have really noticed the difference between a movie that has been compressed too far.

As far as the second it's great, beacuse there is very little left of the movie and only takes up about 1/2 of the DVD disc. It would be a WHOLE LOT BETTER if one could take some of the movie from the first disc, and move it over to be transcoded in the second disc. Understand what I'm getting at? The first is so big the quality suffers,... the second is so small it suffered no loss of quality, but had plenty of more room to put some more info. Split the whole movie in pretty much havles and you would have a decent 2 disc movie.. I really believe.

If you put it onto one disc, I am afraid that the quality will really suffer!

Got any suggestions on how to move some of the vobs from the first rip onto the second rip and get them to work proplerly?
