I need help !
I am backing up my Xfiles season one disc 1 and I have used CCE to reencode it
So since there is not extra on the disc and it is a little bit over 6GB, there is not much to do apart of reencoding
I used the same CCEGuesser too to calculate the average bitrate and first it gave me 2817kps
SO I used this parameter and a multipass VBR (3 passes)
It took a long time since the vob is more than 3 hours
Anyway after everything was reencoded, I used scenarist to reauthor the dvd, burn it on a DVDRW as I usually do to seem if the movie is ok and the video is jerky/shaky. When the 20th century fox home entertainment logo is plaued when you insert the disc, you can see the video is not displayed smoothly.
It shakes or sort of shake
Then I jumped to different chapters in different episode on the dvd and it is the same. vidio is jerky/shaky.
So I thought maybe the bitrate was too low which is strange since I have already encoded movie with bitrate lower than 2817
Anyway this time I used 3175 which give me a size just under 4.7GB
I reencoded but before burning/authoring, I checked the m2v file and it is ok. No jerky video
so I reautored, burnt and same problem
I have not change anything in the way I reencoded of reauthored my dvd and it is the first time I have such problem
I am using the same CCE template I have created
The only "different" thing I did was using AC3 delay corrector since the audio track was 1.2s delayed
Also for info it is a PAL dvd.

is there anybody who has an idea ?
It would be much appreciated

I can undertand what u mean by jerky, stattering video. I also have the same effect in some of my backups, albeit not all of them.

I have reached to the conclusion that it must be an original video - CCE - player error. Especially if your standalone is a Philips one.

Since this problem occurs, at least in my situation, in a long video such as the BBC documentaries and for you in X-Files, long video also, I presume that there must be a factor, yet to be determined, that causes this stuttering.

Perhaps someone else have reached to a solution?
