Encoding from DivX3 to DivX4 ?

I have several DivX3 encoded movies. Can I encode my movies from DivX3 to DivX4 or higher with any "easy to use program"?

Excuse me, but why the heck would you want to do that?? DivX4 is worse than DivX3 and not fully MPEG4-compliant. And even if you'd said you wanted to convert it to DivX5, I'd still wonder why you want to do this.

Every time you re-encode a video, you'll loose details and introduce new errors, because the codecs we're dealing with (those with high compression-ratios) are lossy codecs.

If you're aiming at MPEG4, better wait till the conversion tool that -h is currently working on will be finished. This one will convert DivX3 without any loss (theoretically it should be able to do this) and it will be speedier. The files will just grow a bit bigger but you can still put them on an XCD.

Sorry I forgot to mention the reason. I have a standalone player who accept too play divX4 encoded material. (KISS DP450)That's why. If the quality will be reduced, by doing so, I'll accept that.

I'm looking forward to the conversion tool that -h is currently working on. While I'm waiting, what conversion tool can I use ?

if you really need to re-encode them simply use virtuadub and divx5 in 2 pass mode.
