playback problems

i have just finished my first backup dvd using the good but compicated dvd9 to dvd5 full copy guide problem is it wont play in my thompson dth 4200 player but plays perfect in my ps2 this could be a problem with the age of the player its aprox 3 years old but if someone could confirm this for me before i rush out and buy a new player i would be grateful
