joining files question

hi based on the guide about using nandub to join 2 divx files together, it mentioned that you have to enter a small value in the End offset field - in the Frames section for the first file. my question is does it matter what number i enter? can i just leave it at 0? how does the end offset field affect the video if i enter a number?

Joining 2 divx avis works fine for me when using only "append file" as described in the paragraph "Join 2 AVI files" and Nandub. I joined many movies divx3/4/5/xvid this way, never encountered problems.
