Is it possible to write Ritek G03 discs with the Pioneer A04 or 104 in 2x mode? I know they are only 1x discs but with the Toshiba SD-R5002 it is possible to burn them with 2x speed.
Or do I need a firmware update?

The Toshiba 5002 can do coasters at 2x speed on them, that's true. The Pioneer A04 can write 2x to them if you have a good batch of them if you install a "modified" firmware.

I have played with said "modified" firmware and it works fine at 2x. Of I have just started doing so however and am still testing each and every disk. I have yet to fill an entire disk though so I am reserving my full thumbs up. 3.9GB is as close as I have came.

ImgTool tells you for example.

even if Ritek G03 are really good disks, I feel it's better to burn @1X or it may not read fluently in some Standalones.
In many SA, it's Ok, but do the test first by watching a full movie.
