I have an avi that virtualdub says is a divx 5.0.3 codec. I try to convert the file using cce 2.5 and it says it couldn't find the appropriate codec for dv3. I tried using the mainconcept encoder first. It will encode the file but there is a yellow green line at the bottom. Does anyone know how to get either of these to work without the problems mentioned above?

are you sure it is divx 5.03???
to verifie download gspot, which you can find in the downloads section of doom9! just load the avi into it and it will exactly tell you which codec you are using!

It was the proper version of divx. The problem turned out to be the directshow filter. It became corrupt somehow. I tried an older avi that had worked before and it still had the same problem. I unistalled divx and reinstalled the encoder and had the same problem. I uninstalled the mainconcept encoder and told it to remove the directshow filter also. I then reinstalled and everything is back to normal.
