CCE vs TMPGenc opinions

In my personal opinion CCE 2.5 beats TMPG head over heals for one main reason. TIME.

I make SVCDs and I have tried a film on both CCE and TMPG using CBR. I found that and 2h:30 min film took
7h:30 mins in tmpg
2h:30 mins in cce

This is one hell of a difference and both methods return the same quality.

What your opinions on this subject.

There is no doubt that CCE is incredibly faster than TMPGEnc. But there is something to be said for a nearly free encoder producing quality close or equal to an encoder that costs several thousand dollars. If you have CCE, than for most sources I see no reason to use TMPGenc.

Generally speaking I do get much better results with mpeg1 in TMPGenc than in CCE, not that I use mpeg1 that often.

TMPGenc is great even for professional level encoding, but CCE is the ultimate solution.
