If I prep the DVD image with IFOEDIT, and then burn using a DLA program, then make the DVD-RW compatible, when I play it in my settop player, it misreads the starting point of some videos (chapters), and has 2-3 chapters for one video song, etc. In fact, if I fully format the DVD-RW, then put the DVD-RW in my settop player, many of the old chapters are still there. The VOB's play just fine on my PC.

Can I use an RW format, or only R formats for the settop player? ie: Is the problem likely with the DVD format, or with the software in my settop box (which can plan DVD-RW's burned via MyDVD/similar programs)?

I have no issues using DVD-RW or DVD+RW in any of my three DVD players. However your player must support them and the discs need to written correctly. It could be your DVD player, DVD Burner, Media, burning software or authoring.

Start by checking your DVD player on the player list at www.vcdhelp.com and be sure to read the comments.
