xvid screen recording help

I have a xvid with corrupt frames so virtual dub reports the frames span over about 60 seconds and when I play the clip the frames do play just a bit messed up.

Seen as there does not seem to be a tool to repair xvid files like avidefreezer what I have decided to do it cut the 60seconds and have put that into a seperate avi file (direct stream copy using vdub) now I want to play the file in WMP or something like it and record it as it plays on my screen is there anything that can do this?

First off sorry about the spamming I kept getting a "Page could not be displayed" after I clicked post never realised it was posting still!

When I play the xvid file in WMP when it plays the corrupt frame the picture goes blocky and the the frames sort of all blend into one for a second then it carrys on playing fine. But when I convert the file with CCE using avisynth instead of this blend of the frames the picture just goes half grey and stops playing then carrys on but this is seriously knocking out the AV sync so I wanted to repair the xvid movie. I could not find any repair tools that worked so I have decided it would be best to do is record what WMP plays to good xvid file then replace the bad part of my file with the newly record part from WMP ok the picture would be messey for a second but at least the file would be technically error free and I would not loose my AV sync?

So my question again how can I record what WMP plays exactly?

what is the source of the xvid movie?

first of all, i don't think there is an easy way to do what you want. personally, i don't know a programm which would be able to record the content of the movie window of wmp. or any other player.

one possibility would be to use ffdshow for playback of the buggy clips. ffdshow has an integrated screenshot function. you can find it under 'grab' in the config dialog. you could then configure it to grab every frame of your clip. afaik, you can convert the resulting images into a movie via avisynth. yet, i don't know how.

another possibility woul be to load the clips into vdubmod and simply reencode them in the format of your choice.
