Ok, this is a good question for burning, and I wanted to start this thread so that the answer doesn't get buried along in some lines in another post or two.
When burning a DVD.. There is a VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folder. Some say leave the audio, *empty anyway, and others say not needed. Since i'ts empty, it really don't make that much room on the DVD so might as well leave it.
BUT, When you look at files in the VIDEO_TS folder, there is the VIDEO_TS.IFO some *.BUP files, and of corse the main movie with the *.VOB files (Video OB ject files)
What is it when burning that determines what is DVD compliant or not? If these same files were burned with Nero as well as Primo DVD shouldn't they be recognized and utilized the same? Does one burning software re-arrange or change files?
This one has me a bit puzzled. I use DVD2ONE and burn in Nero in UDF mode and don't seem to have any problems, but there are those out there that have a lot of compatibility issues.

I don't know where you are getting your DVDs, but AFAIK, the audio_ts folder is *not* optional in the DVD specs!

I bought Rules of Engagement tonight and looked at it on my computer. It has 2 files. AUDIO_TS and a VIDEO_TS folder. Audio is empty. Video is far from empty.
This is one where there is just the 2 and it is a store bought movie on DVD. I have checked some of the other ones we have and have not seen it exclusively on all the other DVD movies. Some have it and some do not. Could it be the AUDIO_TS folder is just there for compatibility between PS/2 or Mac? Or perhaps just certain set tops that looked for that folder, and it's presence?
I wish that Nero would state what was improved, or fixed with a new update. It would be nice to see data that says, .... "fixed bug not reporting enough french fries in the Large Fries container... New file encoding includes postage rate at 37cents for 1 oz or less domestic, where before it was for international. Pal fixed to show who is you pal and who is not. NTSC is updated to Show the National Twat Secrets's Conceal verbage... removed the format primary hard drive now function if you close out of Nero unexpectedly.. " those kind of things... well, not exactly THOSE kind of things but things along those lines...
I need a haircut! :D

thats true
thats why i thought it might be a ps2 or xbox standard because
ive never heard any body say they couldnt play a dvd on a settop
i have over 600 dvds more than half dont have them(audio_ts)
someone told me ps2 dvd have a sticker saying ps2 compatible
maybe thats what they changed?

The AUDIO_TS folder is not an option when using Scenarist, but I guess some other authoring software make it optional! If Scenarist feels it's important, that good enough for me. :)
