Hi all

I have a problem that baffles me, maybe someone can simply answer a question. Is the following possible?

I have authored a DVD using Maestro. I have done many to the same method. I have played them all on my Toshiba player and they have been perfect. So when a family member wanted to purchase a DVD player for her room and wanted to ensure she could play DVDs produced by me I recommended the obvious...the same Toshiba player as me. So she bought one. Exact same model. But NOT ONE of the DVDs that play on mine play on hers.

Is this possible?

Are you using NERO to burn your DVD's?

Yes, I'm using Nero version 5.5.10.0 and a Pioneer A105 Writer.

@Partner100:

I don't know if you have read other post about NERO, but it is not good for burning DVD's. It is not 100% compatible. Better us Veritas Primo DVD. The problem with Nero is that it works in some players and in others not...

I could understand it if the problem was from one model to another or even one brand to another, but not two versions of the same actual machine!!

The discs I produce work fine also on a Yamaha 520 too. However, I've also tested them on machines from Himage and Samsung with no luck.

One thing that may be relevant....the Pioneer A105 I have will not record CD-R's in DAO mode. That means SVCD's from DVD2SVCD in image form cannot be cut. To do that I have to load them into a virtual CD drive and then tell Nero that is the source CD and copy it to a CD-R.

The thing is, after many attempts to cut DVD-R with all kinds of drives etc...this method is the one that seems to produce perfect results every time. I'm making far less coasters with this combination and method than I ever did before. Its just so baffling that a problem should arise between two examples of the SAME brand and model!!

Is DVD recording THAT unreliable at present? If so, it's going to put many people off even trying it!

Oh well.

Even the same models may have diferent firmware, laser asembly , and/or drive. Just to be sure don't use NERO...
