View Full Version : Problem after muxing audio/video (bbMPEG bug?)

Hi all,
with some SVCD discs created with DVD2SVCD I have a problem with video stream. During playback sometimes the video stream freezes for a while (half a second) and then the movie goes on without any problem.
I took a look to the mpv file created by DVD2SVCD, but I didn't notice any problem (no frozen images).
The bitrate should be good. The SVCD has just one audio track (192 kbps) and Max./Min./Max. avg have been set to 2556/0/2436 so the total bitrate should be 2556+192 = 2748 kbps.
The problem appears if I play the SVCD with a standalone player or with PowerDVD.

Ideas?

Thx.

Sorry for the mistake (I didn't think this was a beginner question).
Yes, I played the mpeg file and it has the problems.
Here's the log.

What did you rip the DVD with?
I sure hope you used one of the two included rippers since it's stated everywhere on this forum that only these two are supported.
There is a reason for this.

I use DVD Decrypter (the best IMHO), but I really don't think it's a ripping problem. There are no problems with audio (mp2) and video (mpv) tracks before muxing them together.
Anyway, just to test everything, I tried to use DVD2SVCD internal ripping and the problem persists.

Thx for your help.

how are you viewing your mpv file?
please post your updated log file too

DVD Decrypter is great for most things, but causes serious issues with DVD2SVCD. Do not use it with this program.

I use DVD Decrypter for other things as well and I find it to be a great program, but just not with DVD2SVCD.

Try using recover from Muxing and cutting and this time maximize BBmpeg. Watch to see if there are any errors. A bad mux can cause this sort of problem.

hoozdapimp: I'm viewing my mpv file using RealOne Player and it has no frozen images.

markrb: there are no errors in bbMPEG console, but I noticed something strange (for me). When bbMPEG analyzes video stream it reports the following values:

Bit rate: 2556000 bits/sec (Ok)
Computed avg rate: 1750000 bits/sec (Ok)
Computed max rate: 2988400 bits/sec

In my understanding max rate should be 2556000 bits/sec (this is the value I set in DVD2SVCD). Why it's so high?

I also attach the log I obtained using DVD2SVCD internal ripping. Unfortunately, the result is the same as it was when I used DVD Decrypter.
Here it is.

I have the same problem when I used high bitrates.

I do not if it is for the same of you because
I only probe with my DVD player (Philips DVD 633)
and maybe my player don´t play well high bitrates.

To play fine, I can´t use bitrates > 2500.

try this:
in the misc tab select dvd2svcd level to advance
in the bbmpeg tab choose advanced options
set the timestamps to I frames
then remux your file or start a new conversion
