which one of these DVD drive would you go for?

Helo folks, I have a Creative 8400e DVD (8x), and I am thinking about upgrading mine 'cause it's a little faulty by now but, the only DVD's available from where I live are two:

LG DVD 8160B (16x)
Lite On (16x), but I don't know the model number

Which one of these would you recommend buying? I intend to use it mostly for ripping DVD movies.

Is any of them better than the other when dealing with scratched/dirty media, etc;?

Also, what's the difference between those Lite-On models (163, 163D, 165H, 166S)?

Since you have only these two options I'd buy the LG. But I think neither of them can deal very good with scratched disks.

All I can recommend you is to get the new MSI Starspeed D16 which got a very good error correction, it reads scratched disks without to slowdown the speed and it coasts 57 €
