AviFileInfo: Unknow Error in CCE

I'm using CCE SP 2.5 and have never been able to open .avs files successfully. I can open .avs files in Virtual Dub no problem so I now assume it's an issue with CCE.

I ran a search here for the error message and came up with 4 threads, none of which offered a solution. I'd like to use AviSynth because of the great number of features and filters it offers. One thread said something about an wrong file being in the AviSynth directory but doesn't go any further.

Using: CCE 2.5 SP
Latest Avisynth

Any ideas?

i had the same problem :
i found i was using the wrong dvd2avi with the wrong avisynth
started using dvd2avi 176 fixed it(was using 175)
this may not help!

I think you and I dicussed this previously in the AviSynth forum (I think). At any rate it is the version in the SVS2SVCD bundle. The script is whatever generic script DVD2SVCD writes. My AVS files will open in Virtual Dub and I can write a "version echo" script that Media Player can succesfully open so I don't think the problem is with AviSynth.

---AN UPDATE---

I was mistaken, the test AviSynth file will not open in Media Player, it gives me a "Not enough storage is available to complete this operation" error message. So perhaps AviSynth is not properly installed?

I'm having this same issue. Never used Avisynth before (always VFAPI). Just a basic script (load plugin, d2v directory, resample audio) but I always get this error. I use CCE 2.5 w/ Avisynth 2.07 and DVD2AVI version 1.77.3. This is driving me nuts.

Questions -

1 - do you by chance have a dual cpu mainboard?
2 - have you by chance installed windows media player 9?

I ask because this is my situation. I know that avisynth can't multithread, but it should still run. Also, I recently installed WMP 9 and it has f'd up a lot of stuff, possibly this too. Just looking for common denominators so that we can diagnose.

To answer your questions:

1. No dual motherboard here.
2. I'm using the version of Media Player that comes with WinXP...I rarely use it.

Tonight I completely reinstalled everything but haven't had a chance to test it out as I'm encoding a movie and need to restart... :)

Has anyone actually gone to the download section and downloaded the following file?

“AviFile.reg - run that registry file if you have the FlaskMpeg AVIFileOpen doesn't work error”. Look in support utils, could be worth a try.

I also use DVD2AVI 1.76 as it seems to work better for me.

Thanks, Whaq. I'll give it a shot. I don't use Flask, but maybe it will do SOMETHING. I've just tried a parallel install of Win2K (to get rid of WMP9) and will try that first tonight. It's definitely an AVI Synth (not CCE) issue in my case, as I can't get WMP to play a test .avs file. Very strange issue....

Probmem solved (via another thread). It was suggested that I TOTALLY empty my plugin directory. I did, and it worked. I've added the plugins one by one (.dll's ONLY) and it's working. Turns out that if you have text files / html files (plugin documentation), it won't work right (tried to autoload non-plugin files). Hope this works for you, too.
