Will CCE encode AVI file directly?

I have an AVI file captured from laser disk and I would like to convert it with CCE with sound to MPEG2. Can I import the AVI file directly into CCE or is there another step to do first? I imported the AVI file directly but after encoding my picture was only fuz. I've been using CCE for a year now to encode m2v files from DVD, but with these I run through DVD2AVI first then VFAPICon. So whats the procedure for captured AVI's?

you should be able to import an avi directly into CCE, if you are having problems, use an avisynth script.

I'm sure a few people are tired of seeing this, but I'll post it anyway. If it helps one person join the SVCD side, it's worth it.

There are definately easier ways to do it, but I like being able to choose different programs for each step, rather than an all-in-one GUI or front end. (Not that those are bad for the lazy peoples. :D )

I cannot speak for other versions, but v2.64 of CCESP *will* import .avi's directly and encode them without the use of scripts.

However, using a script may increase your performance by framserving using optimizations specific to your setup.
