I have been having problems getting RecordNow Max and Nero to burn a DVD-R. I think it's due to an improper ASPI installation in Windows XP Pro. Both ASPICheck and Nero Info Tools suggest the installation is not functional. Can someone tell me what to uninstall, how to try to reinstall, and what to expect if the installation is accomplished successfully (i.e., files where and what registry keys have been added modified)? The Adaptec literature says both wnasapi32.dll and aspi32.sys will be installed in the windows/system32 directory but I tend to believe more files are need to be installed to have a proper set-up.

I sure appreciate the help since I'm chomping at the bit to get this system operational!

Search on the web for something called ForceASPI...you can use it to install the proper aspi drivers.
then aspicheck shouldn't complain

It doesnt use ASPI. It has its own interface driver.

The most stable version of Adaptec's ASPI layer is version 1.60 and, believe me, don't try ver. 1.72_a2 or you may have a nightmare on your hands. It most certainly doesn't like Win ME.

Any of these can be downloaded for free from www.adaptec.com then hunt around the downloads section.
