Is there any software which will make a PC emulate a DVD player do that it will play a VCD ?

hi,
VCD are not burn on a DVD u can read it using a cd-rom drive.
(u can read on a CD-drive : VCD , SVCD , DivX) VCD are Mpeg1 u can read directely the file by using Media Player, select open=>file and select the .dat file on the VCD (generaly the most bigger file).
for SVCD it seems to me it's mpeg2, and u need first install a dvd software (because some files are needed to read mpeg2 video) and after read the .dat file.

PS: VCD are 320*240 video will look very crap on a monitor resolution.

Try this:
Create a VCD-Image(ready to burn) with the software of your choice. Mount this Image in DeamonTools and start a SW-DVD-Player. Choose the virtual Drive provided by DeamonTools as your DVD-Drive - and the fun starts...
