i would like a guide that explain how to makes the logo "please insert disk 2" (as dvdxcopy) and "please insert disk 1" when i split a dvd to 2 dvdr with ifoedit. I would like the logo also for the chapter, not only for the end of the disk. I i'm looking the first dvd, and from the menù i select a chapter that is on the second dvd, i would like the logo :)
thanks

I asked about this same thing a couple weeks ago. Not much help here I'm afraid.
What I did was to use Sonic DVD and made a DVD file with IFO and VOB's out of a still image(black background with message). I renamed it VTS2, with VTS1 being the first part of the movie on disk 1. I then edited the post command of the disk 1 to play the message. Unfortunately it did not work. I believe the problem was the fact that the movie I made created a VOB file with VOB ID 1, and that same VOB ID was used in the original movie file VOB.
I am still working on it and when I succeed, I will post here.

I also tried this trick a couple of weeks ago but I hadn't any luck.
The problem, I think, its not in the vobid. Since u changed the vts number, it is perfectly legal to have vobid 1 in a new vts set.
In fact the problem lies in the luck of knowledge in inserting the info for the new vts set in the original ifo's pointers that specify the end sector of the whole structure. Possibly these pointers r kept in more than one location. A better understanding of the ifo sturcture is needed here.

Good point. A new master IFO file is needed which includes data on both VTSets. You're correct about the VOB ID's, no problem with same ID number in a different VTS. Thanx.

so, did u guys find out how to do it?? I've just split a movie and would love to know how to display the "Pls insert Disk 2" message at the end of disk one.
Can any other masters in this forum who might know how it is done without using DVDFab, pls share your knowledge or point me to the locations where I can find help. Thanks.

Well there are two steps to doing this.
1. Making the Grafic as a short mpg clip and authoring it to a TitleSet with Ifoedit.
2. Editing the VIDEO_TS.IFO to accept the second title set.
DVD Fab is great at maing a new VIDEO_TS.IFO - shame it got so expensive.
I explained the editing procedure in Part Two of this guide:
Making a multiple VTS with Ifoedit for a Menu produced with DVD Lab (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=58791)

Try this little trick. Insert the new title set in place of one of the deleted ones and then fix pointers, Get Vts sectors. Ie disk has 3 title sets, vts1 is on the first disk and vts 2+3 are on the second. Place your logo as vts2 on the first disk and edit the post commands. The info in the video_ts file already has information for 3 vts'. Let me know if that works as i haven't tried it myself. Don't forget to make it into a vob file first. you can use ifoedit for that also.

The Video_ts.ifo may have info about a third VTS but its wrong so the result will not be reliable if it even works at all.

Guys, thanks for the direction & instruction. I'll use TMPGEnc Plus to convert a jpg to mpg. What setting should I use, i.e. frame rate, aspect ratio, etc? I know how to do the still mp2 for JACKET_P, should I use the same setting? And how to author the mpg to a titleset with IFOEdit?
I've never reauthored a DVD b4, all I've done were stripped unwanted extra and backuped DVDs. Pls educate me. Thanks.
maa, I don't have time to go into detail on the guide for step 2 right now. In fact I don't have time to do anything about all these now, I'll do it tonight (late night) :)
DnGermany, I really want to explore what u suggested. Actually I was planning to edit/replace an existing vts with a still in the DVD I'm working on right now. I'm going to look into how to convert the vob into jpg in order to edit it. Or how to replace it with one of my own. Then extend the play time or do whatever so that the clip will stay on screen. The clip in that vob is only play for a second right now. Lots to read and learn, so little time to do that now.

Ifoedits DVD Author needs a dummy audio file which you need to pick up somewhere.
Alternatively you can use the remux function to place your mpg in an existing vob. Afterwards strip out the audio and it should get really small.
Sonics MyDVD would do too, make a slide show with one slide and endless duration, no audio.

Cool!! This is the one! Aiyaya, why I didn't see it when I searched the forum. I really don't have time to learn how to do it without a guide since there r many things going on in my life recently.
So influenza, u really make my life easier! Thanks. :)
