the best way to join two avi files with out them being out of sync? i've been using virtual dub but it make it well out of sync.

First you post in the wrong forum, it should have its place on the virtualdub one, or perhaps in the general section ( since you think vdub isn't the soluce ).

Then for an answer ( amongs other ) :

First, if the audio is out of sync after merging, it may be because you have a mp3 VBR as audio. If you use VirtualDub ( and not VitualDubMod ), you won't be able to keep the sync while merging, so use either VDubMod or Nandub, which both can handle MP3 VBR.

If it still doesn't work, it's because something is different between the first and the second audio stream. A way to get rid of this problem is to extract the two audio stream, join them with SoundForge ( or something else ), and reencode them ( while saving ). Then mux the result with the video, again with VDubMod or Nandub.
