DRU-500A New Firmware 1.0g

Hey for anyone that doesn't read the other forums out there, I just thought I'd let you know that the new Firmware is out for the DRU-500A

1.0g (http://www.sony.jp/products/Consumer/Peripheral/CRX/Support/common/fw500a10g.exe)

It is suppose to improve reading efficiency (what ever that means)
I tried my Ritek G03's still write @ 2X. I don't know if this fixes the problem with the G04's not burning at 4X though. If anyone has some PLease let me know if they still don't burn at 4X with the firmware upgrade.

I don't know I tried to rip a DVD9 and my max speed was still only 2.2X

Nope, does nothing for the ritek g04. Still only burns at 2x

Amyb are you sure it's the drive. I use my aopen dvd reader to rip the files. Under windows xp it doesnt go any further than 2x the speed. If i rip it under windows me it easily reaches 6x the speed. I think windows xp has a sort of break on it.

The DRU500A has been criticized in some official tests for its lack of speed when ripping DVD9.

ericelza, I don't think it's xp. I use a liteon and on a dvd9 I've gotten up to 10x, dvd5 I've seen it reach 15x. I think some drives just don't rip too well. You also might have your dma settings differing on each os.

I could only get 2.0x before the upgrade to 1.0f and now I get 2.0x also. I am running 2000 and I have tried the both settings on the dma.

I have a Pioneer and it blazes, well compared to the dru500a 11x
