Your question is very general. If what you try to do is backing up a DVD (I suspect it is, since you refer to VOB and MPEG2), you may want to read some of these guides (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/dvdr-guides.htm) and point out what part of it is unclear or doesn't work for you.
