hi. i have 8 Mile on NTSC DVD, and i';m in the UK. my TV plays region 2 vcd's in black and white, so i want to convert it to PAL vcd.

i first tried the program i usually use, DVDx, but after two minutes of encoding it said "too much sample", so i tried again with "detect 24hz" unchecked and the end result was that the audio stutterred every two seconds throughout.

so i tried a different program. dvd2svcd, with cce2.5, after setting it up just as the guides say, after a whole night, i found cce on 15% and it was going at a staggerring 0.5fps.

so then i connverted it to divx5 using gordion knot. all good. then i tried to convert it to vcd using my trusty tmpeg, but the output was very strage. firstly, it encoded 200 minutes of blank video after the movie. and secondly, whenever there was a fast scene, the picture would break up and alternatinbg rows would move the opposite dirrection. so i'd get "spikes" along the whole picture.

well i've run out of ideas now. and i didn't know which forum folder to put this in seen aas it metions many programs.

anyone/.?

I haven't tried it, but DVD2SVCD can convert NTSC to PAL, and there is a template for VCD (MPEG-1, etc) for the program. You might check that forum and see if it's been discussed.
