I just got the first two seasons of Futurama on DVD and i would like to encode it. But first i would like to know if there's some special setting you can take advantage of when encoding animation movies, i would think that it's easy to compress because there's not much movement in the movies.
Thanks all!

Please, please use the search button to find answers! You're definately not the first one to ask this.
In case you only searched in this particular forum, extend yor search to divx5, xvid, virtualdub and avisynth forums, because all methods posted there apply to divx3/4 as well.

I've encoded season 1 lately (R2), just like they said in the thread you will find when you use the search button :p, and it worked perfecty. I used a 512*384 resolution and DivX5.02 with Convolution3d animeLQ.
I also tried DivX3, although it looked a bit sharper, it had a lot more smearing and i got a lot of shitty errors. I tried Xvid too, but i got small irritating imperfections. So that's why i used DivX5. I used bi-directional encoding which caused the files to be undersized but that is fine with me. The target filesize was 175MB (video+sound) but it the average is about 160mb.
I will soon start to encode season 2 :D.
