I have a bunch of downloaded videos in mpeg1 that i'd like to make into mpeg2 then burn to dvd to watch on my dvd player. is there something that will do that? some of the videos are good quality so they might look good in a better format. i know that some arent worth doing but im not sure what you can do to make them "better" any ideas? thanks

when you reencode to MPEG-2, you'll loose quality no matter what. You can't get them better when you transcode to any other format!

DVD accepts MPEG-1 files. See if you can get them on the DVD as is.

i think that dvd plays also vcd format,
but if u would like some more quality you could get some little improvement.

if mpg1 are bad, remove noise first, then fix color if are turned green

if are good use some sharp filter or give more contrast, good vcd looks fine on tv however, and full screen,
but i dont think that u could double their vertical res, neither if u burn them like svcd,
that you could do is to magnify the res up to 50%, and then add black bars, but then they will appear smaller than vcd.

mpg1 resize up and improvements are good only if u want to make divx and play on pc, with the good post processing of divx u could make them looks well full screen.
