I am having trouble ripping Pilot Candidate. V-strip and internal will only select the largest ifo, which is only one episode. If I use smartripper I get some serious synch issues (d2s encodes the video to a length of 29 minutes when the audio is only 24 minutes as the video should be). I am thinking this is due to the multi anlge nature of the disc.

I did get it to work correctly doing this:
1. rip with smartripper and delete vob's
2. rip with vstrip (by hand) and then use the ifo created by smartripper

This seems redundant, ripping twice, and wastes some time.

The trouble I'm having is I can't seem to get vstrip to save the ifo file.

So, what is the best way to rip a multiangle dvd? Or how can I get vstrip to save the ifo file?

Should I rip both angles (entire pgc) or select one. (I only selected the first angle w/ smartripper). I am trying DVDdecryptor now, but again I don't know if I should rip just angle 1, or both of them.

I get a length of 27min for the pgc and a length of 24 min for each angle.

Has anyone else encountered this issue? I did do a search and didn't really find anything that could help.

I ripped all three seasons 1,2,and 3 of sopranos with dvddecrypter then encoded with dvd2svcd using CCE. No synch issues.

Did you rip both angles or just one, or was it even a multiangle disc?

each dvd had four episodes...yes it was a multiangle dvd..pgc 1, pgc 2, pgc 3, pgc 4...voila. Yes I believe it was multiangle 1, 2. 2nd angle had bonus...IIRC. If I were you I'd rip one chapter with dvddecrypter from ep 2 let's say and see if there's synch issues.

dvd2svcd (as I've said previously) does the following. Say you wish to rip pgc2 60mins which is 2GB. Total vobs are 8GB. When you rip it with internal routines it'll read the entire 8GB, albeit only ripping 2GB. This is time consuming. So for each episode it would take 10-15 mins instead of using dvddecrypter which would take 3-4 mins per episode.
