after splitting a dvd onto two dvds

when i was'nt have much success at shrinking dvds, i started splitting them onto two dvds. but now i know how to shrink them, would i be able to make the split dvds one again?
i have tried renaming the vobs so they continue from the first dvd, and doing more ifo files, but it doesn't seem to run properly, does anybody have any ideas?

what program are you going to use to encode?

cce:renumber vobs use dvd2avi same as original
dvd2one cretae new ifo in ifoedit(mabee easier way havent tried it)

I will be using cce to encode, last time I tried to do it I renumbered the vobs, made a new ifo file, stripped the streams with smartripper,then I re_encoded using cce, then arthored using spruce up. It seemed to work, untill it got to the end of what would have being the first disc, then it just went to the beginning again.
