when i convert a Xvid to svcd to play on standalone the movie appears not centered on the TV, its a few inches higher toward the top then on the bottom? i never ran into this with DVD-svcd before so im lost?
using DVD2SVCD CCE 2.50 just grabbed the DivX 5.03 from here (10x)
im just certain what to adjust to center it? yep the movie has borders top & bottom.. anyone that can point me in the right direction i would greatly appreciate it, im lost :(

Well, when using DVD2SVCD to make your SVCD, it automatically adds the borders when encoding, to make your video 4:3 aspect ratio. It's entirely possible that something is getting fubar during encoding, or DVD2SVCD is not putting the correct borders on the file. Have you tried just converting the XviD file to SVCD without DVD2SVCD manually? In TMPGenc (yes, the other MPEG encoder) you can just add an .avi file directly, and let it encode, is this possible in CCE, if so have you tried it this way?

If you're still having issues, you may want to try using GKnot to create a .avs file to add into CCE. If you want more detailed instructions:

It might help, or it might just confuse you with all the extra steps more than DVD2SVCD. (I've never had a resize or centering problem when I've used GKnot to convert AVI to SVCD.)

Hi-
its a few inches higher toward the top then on the bottom
What happens when you mount the Bin-Cues in Daemon Tools? Is it higher on the monitor also? Or what happens when you play the finished SVCD with PowerDVD, or whatever software you use, on your computer? Still off center? If not, I'd say it's your TV's problem. However, it's easy enough to fix. Allow DVD2SVCD to pause to edit the .avs. Then you'll see a line in the .avs saying somethong like:
AddBorders(0,60,0,60) #or whatever it says for your particular movie. Then change it to something like:
AddBorders(0,70,0,50) #That'll add more black to the top and lower the movie on the TV screen. You might have to juggle the numbers until you get it right.

:) Big 10x guys, second Xvid movie this occured on, i took the settings out 0,30,0,30 that i had for dvd to svcd in Avisynth / Add Borders, i left it blank, 0,borderTop,0BorderBottom, re encoded like a top..so im just going to leave that blank, although i copied & pasted this info in the video encode folder for future reference..
again Thanks for the quick replies..
