I am currently converting all my VHS tapes collection to DVD and I am looking for a tool to remaster the stereo track into DD5.1
what I am looking for is a guide or a way to basically produce a DD 5.1 track from a 2CH track (how to split the tracks, assign the sound to different channel, etc...)

I guess the hollywood studios might such tools when they release a DVD with 5.1 for a movie which is old enough not to have a 5.1 audio track.
Is there anybody who knows how to proceed ?
I have checked the Eyes of Horus guide on this forum and I will guide it a go but it is not going to produce a real 5.1 track but if it is satisfactory then I'll go for this solution
in the meantime, if naybody knows anything, thanks for your help

I have already read this guide but I'd like to know if there is another method
For instance, once you have a stereo audio track how could this track be processed to create 6 mono files which will be then encode in AC3
I have an AC3 encoder which comes with scenarist and I'd like to know the rule to process a 2ch track into a 5 or 6 mono tracks which will be converted in AC3 DD 5.1 in scenarist

I read somewhere on this forum that to create the LFE, one could add L+R channels, apply a low pass filter with a cut off frequency off 120Hz (dolby specs) and then create the LFE track
But what about the other channels ?
