The default program for MPEG 5.1 encoding is pub_enc.exe (inside DVD2SVCD); but musicin and Hypercube (http://hypercubemx.free.fr/) transcoder are also interesting tools

Musicin and pub_enc do not support AC3 streams but only AIFF. Accordingly, the folloving conversion schem must be applied:

AC3 > 6 PCM > Multichannel AIFF > Multichannel MPEG

but by using Hypercube this is more feasible:

AC3 > Multichannel MPEG

The total bitrate for SVCD should not exceed 2756 kbit/s. If the audio bitstream is 384 kbits/s you should not exceed 2372 kbits of video bitrate in order to follow the standard rule for standalone DVD players

Try a search.

Most DVD players won't play it at all or not that good.

well i attempted mpeg5.1 on my dvd player once again because the site said mine supported, but i dont think it does fully...no matter what i can't seem to get my subwoofer to receive any signal, although it appears my surround speakers are receiving distinct signals...(in the test file when the surround plays it plays out of both the front and rear speakers, but when the front plays it only plays out of the front)...

guess it really doesn't matter anyways, since i have a dvd-r now :)

good idea. MPEG Multichannel quality is not very good, espacially
on rear speakers. Maximum bitrate (384kbps) is sometimes not enought.
